Bee was born here on our farm and through the years we've watched her grow into a really nice brood jennet. Bee was born jet black with no cross and only had a smidge of white on the tip of her nose for quite some time (click here for her baby picture). Now, as an adult, she has kept her black color, but does have a visible cross. And her nose? We were surprised to see the white surround the top part of her muzzle around 2 years of age. Regardless of how she has changed, we are happy to have her in our herd and are excited to see what she is capable of producing in future years.

Breeding Status:  Bewitched was bred to our jack, Buddy, throughout 2006 and had her very first foal, a dark brown jack named BeDeviled, on 7/10/07!

Tiny, tiny, tiny... that's how we describe our Baby. Super stocky and compact, with her dad's pretty little head. She was born with one heck of a set of rear legs on her, nothing to fault her on. We think she'll make a fabulous show donkey and future brood jennet.

Breeding Status: Baby Kakes' last foal was Sophistication, a dark brown jennet foaled on 9/29/07 and sired by our red jack, Buddy.

Grand Sire:  LCR Valintino 49 (Winchester), 34" Dark Red
      Grand Dam:  Lazy C Ranch Philamena 49, 35.5" Gray-Dun

Nightshade, or "Nosey Nellie" as we've come to call her, is a gorgeous, dark black jennet. She came to us along with her half sister, Callie, from Dewey Meadows. The two were joined at the hip, and although our trip to New York for Callie was intended to bring only one donkey home, we ended up putting Nellie on the trailer along with Callie. We think Nellie will end up being a bit taller than the rest of our jennets, but we are very pleased so far with her development otherwise. She has wonderful conformation, a friendly personality and is just about the strongest, most muscular donkey I've ever seen!

Breeding Status: Nellie has been exposed to our jack, Buddy, for a summer 2007 foal. She appears to have settled and we expect her to foal after 9/4/07! This will be her first foal.

Calli is a gorgeous jennet, so uniquely colored, especially around her face and the tyger spotting on her body sets her apart as well. She reminds me so much of a smudged up calico cat! Some of her spots look black, some brown. Combining her with our new upcoming tyger spotted jack "Tyger" when both are old enough, should produce a super duper tyger spotted baby!

Breeding Status: Callie was bred to our jack, Buddy, and foaled a gorgeous spotted jennet foal, Camouflauge, on 6/5/07! This was her first foal.

Grand Sire:  Lassie's Louie, Light Gray
Grand Dam:  Ass-Pirin Acres Florina, Gray-Dun

Dora is just as her name describes her, ADORABLE!! My 7 year old son named her for us when she was just a few hours old. He kept saying "she's adorable... she's just so adorable!".... Dora is tiny, and we expect her to remain tiny as mom and dad are both small, well built and stocky. We decided to keep Dora here with us as a future brood jennet because she is just that good. We have watched her progress and cannot fault her in any way. She is also a farm favorite here, as she's followed in her mom's hoofprints by learning to scoot herself underneath our fencing at will. Jessica and Dora have found themselves lifelong homes here with us as our animated lawn ornaments that like to greet visitors, literally, with a 'hoofshake' at their car door.

Breeding Status: Dora was exposed to Tyger throughout 2006. She appears to be in foal, however, we are not certain. We will watch her closely and hopefully she will have her first foal before the end of 2007!

Grand Sire:  Lawzyday Farm's Cherokee, 29.5" Red
Grand Dam:  Gladybrooke Ms. Ditto, 33.5" Dk Brn/White Spot

This little jennet is put together like a little tank! Her color is very unique -- not the typcial black, but more of a black cherry coloring, especially around her face where sorrel coloring is very apparant. Her mom, Kandi, was bay/brown when we purchased her with sorrel highlights on her face, but as she's matured, she's turned into a gorgeous sorrel. This little one also has a jam-packed pedigree, which includes donkeys like Valintino 50, LN Redsonnehi and LN Nighthawk. She's got a rainbow of colors in there too, lots of sorrels, browns, blacks and spots and many ancestors are 32" or under. Kandace has the prettiest head and her build is perfect, squarer than square and back legs are terrific too. If all of that wasn't enough, she's got the prettiest trot I've ever seen on a donkey. She holds her head up high and brings those knees up and I swear she holds her tail up too just like our Arabian horses! I think she's been watching them too much! Kandace will be staying here with us as a future brood jennet. At almost 14 months of age, Kandace is smaller than my 4 and 5 month old weanlings, and has kept her perfect conformation at that. We cannot fault her and are excited about the possibilities she may bring to our future breeding program.

Breeding Status: Kandace has been exposed to Tyger since 11/5/06. We have not seen her come back in season, so we are hopeful that she has settled for a late 2007 or early 2008 foal. Time will tell! This will be her first foal.

Grand Dam:  Boone's Little Rosie, 33.5" Dark Red

Little Laurel was named after our veterinarian's farm name.."Laurel Highland Farm & Equine Services". Our vet, Dr. Earley, helped to save Laurel's mom (Rosebud) for us when she was very, very ill 2 years ago. After thousands of dollars in testing, x-rays, ultrasounds, medications and keeping Rosebud at his place for weeks on end, Rosebud made a remarkable recovery. We're still not entirely sure what was wrong with Rosebud, but regardless, we feel Dr. Earley helped greatly in her comeback! So here you go Dr. Edward Earley... your namesake is here! (Good thing it wasn't a boy, because his name would have had to have been "Eddie"..)

Laurel is a fabulous little spotted jennet. She would make a wonderful candidate for the show ring! Laurel is gorgeous with her even spotting pattern on both sides, and she's got the "look at me, I'm a queen" personality to go along with her beauty too. Laurel is carrying heavy sorrel genes on her sire's side, and spots and sorrels on her mom's. Just look at all of the "red" just in her parents and grandparents lines! We're not exactly sure of Laurel's color. Some days she looks gray spottod, some days brown and then there are times we swear her spots look sorrel. I think this one will take some time to tell! Regardless of the color, she is nice and square, has an even bite and her rear legs are as straight as you could hope for.

Breeding Status: Laurel was exposed to Tyger throughout the end of 2006 but came back in season through out the spring of 2007. We have removed her from Tyger and placed her in with our youngest jack, Maplewood's 27 Jasper, for a possible summer 2008 foal. This will be her first baby!

34" Grey Jennet *MSF (masked spotting factor)
DOB: 5/01/01

Sire:  Unknown
Dam:  Unknown

Dolly was purchased and added to our brood band early in 2006. At this time, Dolly is our only donkey who carries an unverified pedigree. It is rare for us to add a jennet to our herd without knowing any of her history, but Dolly's conformation and build compiled with her loving personality and beautiful markings made the decision to add her much easier. Although we've been trying to track her history down through the farm that originally registered her (TST), we've had no luck reaching them to pinpoint Dolly's parentage to date. Regardless, we were very happy with Dolly's first foal for us, and are anticipating something special from her crossed with our jack, Buddy.

Breeding Status: Dolly foaled a light red jack for us on 9/14/06, Jimi Hendrix. She was hand bred to our jack, Buddy, on 10/25/06, and we have not seen her come back in season. She appears to be in foal and we anticipate a late October 2007 foal!

      Grand Dam:  Marianne, 32" Brown

Dam:  Mack Henry Little Cindy, 32" Gray-Dun
Grand Sire:  Fisher's Ghost, 32" White
Grand Dam:  Fisher's Tabasco Sauce, 32.5" Gray & White Spotted

Lacy is a beautiful girl just added to our herd at the start of 2007. She is gray dun but carries a red cast particuliarly in her summer coat. Her pedigree boasts small sizes ranging from 30.5" to 34". She is a Fisher's Ghost granddaughter, linking her to M&M Eric the Red and LCR Valintino 50. Her past is packed with Fisher's breeding on her dam's side, which puts multiple frosted spotted whites in her blood. Her sire's side brings in more color with her sire, grandsire and greatgrandsire all being red. Lacy has had exceptional foals in the past, one of which was Maplewood's 27 Mojave. who is currently being used as a herdsire in northcentral Pennsylvania.

Breeding Status: Lacy is mother to Mojave, born 10/3/03, and Drifter, born 4/15/05. Lacy has been exposed to our red jack, Buddy, since April of 2007. We anticipate a spring 2008 foal from this pairing!

Betty came to us in the beginning of 2007, and we are excited to add her to our brood band. She has wonderful conformation particuliarly for a jennet her age who has had multiple foals through the years. We have no doubt she will continue producing fabulous foals for us here as a Shorecrest jennet. Betty has the likes of LCR Valintino 50 and M&M Man-O-War and M&M Fred Feather in her background. She has a colorful history which includes at least 3 frosted spotted whites, reds, grays and spots. Her friendliness and pleasant attitude just add to the mix that makes this jennet very special!

Breeding Status: Betty is mother to a spotted jack, Pink Floyd, born 7/18/04, a grey jennet, Betty's Boop, born 11/26/05, and a grey jack, Bandit, born 1/4/07. She has been bred to our sorrel jack, Buddy, for a May 2008 foal.

Sorrel, Gray and White Spotted Jennet
DOB 7/12/06
Birth Height: 21.5"

Sire:  Shorecrests Little Buddy, 32.5" Light Sorrel
Grand Sire:  Lawzyday Farm's Cherokee, 29.5" Sorrel
Grand Dam:  Springlake Rosebud, 33" Light Sorrel

Dam:  Windcrest Miss Betsy, 33" Gray/White Spot
Grand Sire:  Boone's Marble Fudge, 34" Brown/White Spot
      Grand Dam:  McDonald's McBubbles, 32" Gray/White Spot

I've been waiting for a spotted jennet from Betsy ever since we purchased her... and this little girl was worth the wait! Gypsy is gorgeous from her head to her hooves and everything in between. I don't think I've ever seen a prettier head on a foal and she is the first tri-color spot we've produced. Photos make it hard to tell, but in person Gypsy has gray legs but her body color is sorrel, and her white spots set it all off perfectly. Combine her unique coloring with her solid pedigree and great build, and she is very near "perfect". Sorry to say, but at this time we've decided to retain this fabulous jennet as a future Shorecrest brood jennet!

Sorry, not for sale... but we just had to share her photos!

Grand Sire:   Dewey Meadows Gucci, 31.5" Black
Grand Dam:  Dewey Meadows Calico, 34.5" Brown/White Spot

Wow! This little jennet is my pick of the litter, she is fabulous! Cammie's got the whole package - size, color, pedigree, conformation and personality. Most of her is a dark slate gray and white, but she has some small patches with brown and on one side of her face she has a black patch of hair and a little black speckled though out her coat as well. She is camouflaged! If I keep any 2007 foals, this one will be it, she's absolutely perfect. Cammie is so very tiny, I'll be surprised if she reaches 32" at maturity. She will make an outstanding show and/or brood jennet. This was Calli's very first foal and we couldn't be happier!

Jessica and her half brother, Barney, were the two donkeys that started it all for us, and I can guarantee Jessica has earned herself a lifelong home here!  She is a very small, stocky jennet with perfect conformation from head to toe and has a terrific personality.  Jessica is our escape artist -- she can scoot out under any fence in any of our pastures at any time and travels back and forth between the pasture and yard at will.  We call her our animated lawn ornament!  She uses the bushes for her scratching post, the flowers as her snack (mums are yum-yum!), and even 'helps' by taking the laundry off the clothes line!  Jessica has some wonderful ancestors and a rainbow of colors in her pedigree, which contains 206 known ancestors tracing back to a variety of original imports.

Breeding Status:  Jessica foaled a tiny gray jennet, Shorecrests Lil Annie, on 8-21-03. Jessica was rebred to our sorrel herd sire, Shorecrest Buddy, in September, 2003 and surprised us with an early baby this year, Shorecrests Adorable, a sweet 20" jennet foal on August 13, 2004.
