Cori is a sweet natured, quiet yearling. We had planned on retaining her in our herd,
but we are feeling the need to cut down our numbers this year, and Cori was one of the difficult
decisions we had to make. Cori is shown above in her foal photos. She has grown up a little
since then, however is still quite a pretty jennet.
Cori just turned 1 year old
February 13th, and she has kept a nice, rich dark brown color and is also keeping her nice
compact size. Conformation wise she has a nice square build, round rear and a short back.
Her rear legs are not as perfect as some, however, she is young yet, and I have seen many
weanlings and yearlings go through a gangly, awkward stage at her age and then improve upon
maturity. For that reason I am not overly concerned at this point and do not see any reason
why she cannot go on to become a valuable brood jennet for someone.
Cori was DNA
typed as a foal and carries that certification of bloodlines on her paperwork through the
Miniature Donkey Registry. I expect Cori to mature no taller than 32-33". Both parents are
very compact and small, I expect Cori to follow suit. Cori carries reds, blacks, browns,
grays, spots and even frosted spotted white in her pedigree, so the possibilities of what
she can produce in the future are wide open.
Cori is very, very attached to one
of our other younger jennets who we are planning on retaining in our herd. I think she will
do well if her new home has a younger jennet (under 3 years of age) that she can become
best friends with. Cori is current on all vaccinations, hoof care, dewormings and selenium
boosters and is a very healthy and easy going jennet. It will be difficult seeing her leave!
